“Honor, Courage, Commitment for our Veterans”

National Program(s)

As members of the Auxiliary, we shall promote the VFW’s National Veterans  Service (NVS), the VFW’s Veterans & Military Support Programs, and offer our love and support to the veterans, service members and their families.  We will stand up for our Veterans and we WILL be heard!

Auxiliaries, no matter what your membership size is, your efforts count, but most of all, they matter. We appreciate each and every one of you! Your time and efforts will be used and heard!

We as auxiliary members should and must support the following programs:

  • Texas VFW Foundation
  • Military Assistance Program (MAP)
  • Adopt-A-Unit
  • National Veterans Service
  • Military and Veterans Services
  • Sports Clip- Help a Hero Scholarship
  • Unmet Needs

State Program(s)

Our veterans and their families need to know that they have brothers and sisters throughout the State of Texas and that we are striving to help them. We are a part of the family, and  families take care of their own, now and into the future.

Mobile Food Pantry – This program allows the post to reach veterans, activity duty personal, and their families with the support of food. The auxiliary, in working with a local/area food bank would establish a mobile food bank at the VFW post. This would allow all veterans, active servicemen and women, and their families to participate in the food distribution. The goal is to work with the local/area food bank in developing a pivotal recurring point and time for the mobile food bank to take place and for the delivery of much-needed food. The Feeding Texas Address is 1524 South IH-35, Ste. 342 Austin, TX 78704, and their phone number is 512-527- 3613. This program will, and should, meet the attended program for Natl President’s  Special Project “Stars, Stripes and Support”.

“Warming our vets”- As Auxiliary members we must reach out to all veterans; NOT just the homeless. Look around at your post and your community. Make an effort to contact the local shelters, community centers, food banks, nursing homes, etc. to reach the veterans in need. A good place to start is your area VA clinic.

Collect socks, T-shirts, sweats, and or handkerchiefs (”bless you” rags), handmade plastic sleeping mats, etc. Present these to veterans in your area. If there is an abundant amount collected, present them to your area VA hospital or facility.

Toys for Tots – This program allows the post to reach veterans, active-duty personnel, and their families with the support of unmet holiday needs. The Auxiliary in working with local/area Marines Toys For Tots program would establish a drop off/collection point for toys that will be distributed to low-income veterans and their families along with other community members to facilitate much needed holiday cheer for military and veteran families who struggle with providing for their families at a  time when it is particularly difficult for many. Auxiliary members are encouraged to volunteer at other local drop-off points or go out into the community and collect new, unused, unwrapped toys to be delivered to area drop-off points. This program will ONLY be reported on the Mid-Year Report as it ends in December.
